We at SmartGuide wanted to take a little vacation and visit Siglufjörður! After a long day of traveling we stayed at Siglunes Guesthouse which was an amazing experience. It is located near the town’s square so it is in walking distance to the bakery, grocery store, souvenir shop and the coffee house which is pretty nice! The guesthouse itself has beautiful interior. It has a lovely common area where you can enjoy a cup of coffee and

read a book by the fireplace, a bar to sit down for a drink and a restaurant. The rooms are very comfortable and have a nice vintage vibe to them. Siglunes has a lot of unique features, for example it has many furniture’s from old residents of Siglufjörður, which makes it so nice and welcoming, especially those related to the former owners. Also the restaurant is Moroccan, the chef is from Morocco and makes the most delicious food! Eating at their restaurant is a great experience, you can really feel the passion that has been put into the meals.

The service was perfect, the waiter was welcoming and joyful and the owner and his wife were wonderful! They told us everything about the story behind the guesthouse and the restaurant and it was unbelievably interesting! Hálfdán, the owner actually found the chef when traveling in Morocco and after tasting his food there was no turning back, he offered him a job in Iceland and luckily he accepted. And yes the food is really that good!! Since the restaurant is Moroccan, the owner needs to travel to Morocco annually to get all the necessary spices needed to make the food taste perfect.
